Travel Day 83 to Steinhatchee, FL 11/28/21

Writer: Gemini CrewGemini Crew

Sunrise as we leave Dog Island.

The group of loopers following to Steinhatchee.

WE MADE IT!! 69.1 NM across the Gulf of Mexico. We left at first light and traveled 10.5 hours to get to Sea Hag Marina. The dock hands were there, along with our fellow loopers to help grab the lines. Unfortunately, Sea Hag is working on their docks so there is no water or electric so we needed to run our generator. They do have a great ships store with many marine parts and clothing items.

Roy's Restaurant was a short walk for dinner. We ate with Tom, Theresa and Tom's brother George, as well as Brenda and Sonny. Unfortunately Chris and Mary couldn't stay because they did not allow Skipper. Brenda was sure she saw "eyes" while walking and thought it was an alligator.

A decorated golf cart.

In the morning, I took a 3 mile walk to get some exercise. Afterwards, Brenda and I did some shopping in the ship's store. As we headed back to the boats, we saw Steve and Ann from New Adventure on their dinghy. They stayed at River Haven Marina since it had electric. Imagine was also with them. They told us about McDavid's Cafe. It was supposed to have excellent donuts. Since I was making a Chanukah dinner I thought donuts would be great for dessert. Brenda and I walked the half mile to McDavid's Cafe and had a wonderful lunch. Once we were seated, Steve and Anne arrived, followed by Jim and Nancy from Our Nauti Time, and then Tom, Theresa and George. A while later Mary and Chris came for the donuts. Brenda and I each brought back a box of donuts which consisted of 8 donuts and donut holes.

Jim and Nancy organized a docktails at the marina. Barbara from Irene was there, also attending was Steve and Anne, Tom, George, Mary and Chris, Diane and Henry from De De, Brenda and Sonny, Karen and Tony from Long Recess, and another couple on a sailboat. It was a nice get together, except for the bugs. Brenda, Sonny, Mary, Chris and Skipper came for a Chanukah dinner after the docktails. We had a wonderful evening and then went to bed early for another travel day.
