Travel Day 47 to LaGrange Lock, IL 9/14/21

ree

Leaving early, 7:30 am, we were originally headed for Beardstown, IL. We were going to stay on the barge at Logston Tug and Barge, however after thoughtful consideration, we decided to go further to make our next leg shorter. We went through the LaGrange Lock and then anchored on the lower descending bank, LDB, just past the wicket and dam. It was a perfect anchorage. We all anchored separately due to the unfamiliar area and the nearness of the dam. Anna Mae has been traveling with us since IVY and they are going to continue with us until Grafton. They are from Washington and had trucked their boat to Norfolk, VA.

LaGrange Lock at night.

We arrived early at the anchorage so we decided to put the dinghy in the water. Boy I love this new dinghy! It is easy to get on and off the boat and it handles so well. The throttle is easy to use. So happy we switched the dinghies.

Jackpot hosted 'linner', the big meal instead of lunch and dinner. JoAnn made delicious dirty rice and everyone else brought appetizers. Chris picked up John and Carol from Ann Mae with his dinghy and we picked up Brenda and Sonny. We all enjoyed a lovely afternoon. It was nice to meet Carol and John since we are traveling with them.
