Well what started out as a simple day turned into one of the longest days. First we had to wait 2 hours for the Peoria Lock and Dam. We had asked to go through the cut of the 15 barge tow but the dock master declined. So we all anchored in a pleasant cove and waited. We got to the lock at the right time because there was another tow coming northbound. We entered the lock at 11:35 and went down 10 feet.

After passing through the lock it became uneventful for a while. We passed the time looking for eagles, until Hal heard a tow and dredge talking about the PC, pleasure crafts, Gemini and Jackpot. He quickly got on the radio and chimed in. The tow was looking to see where we were to figure out the best place for us to pass. We held back for a little while until he passed the dredge and then we passed him on the '1'. We passed the dredge on the '2'.

The dredge we passed.

The boom for the dredge.
As the day progressed it seemed the wind picked up. I saw gusts up to 23 KNTS. It was a steady 14 KNTS. As we got behind Quiver Island the wind lay down considerably. We all anchored separately and considering it was a 9.5 hour day we did not put our dinghy in the water as previously planned. Hal was ready to relax and chill.

Our anchorage for the night.
