Passing through behind the barges and the lock.

Well it was a nice cruise from Ottawa to Henry. We went through Starved Rock Lock between the cut of a 15 barge tow. It was very nice of them to let us through without waiting.

At Henry we tied up to an old lock wall. The lock was closed in 1939. It is part of the Landings at Henry Harbor Marina. The marina is to shallow for us to tie to their docks. Fortunately for us Karen and Ron had been there the day before and told the owners that they needed to be there to help boaters coming in. Unfortunately they were not there for Karen and she had to jump off on the uneven rocks to grab a re-bar, cutting her leg in the process. So Fran and her husband were watching on Nebo for us and grabbed our lines. Since we were the first boat in we were tied to a tree and some re-bar. Jackpot followed us, then New Hope and then Cashelmara. Sea Duck II came in later in the afternoon.

We took a walk up to "town" to a Mexican restaurant and had 'linner". Then we walked to Dairy Queen, their attraction of the town. Afterwards we had a quiet night listening to the Asian carp eating off our boat. It was a quick stop and we left around 9 the next day.

Some shells I found at Henry.

The ducks on the other lock wall.
