The travel day started out as a beautiful ride, however it got a little bumpy before making the last turn when we had a following sea. We were able to get into Duncan Clinch Marina, right near the downtown area. A spot on the wall was secured which gave us an amazing view of the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay, along with some privacy. JoAnn, Jack, Brenda, Sonny and Brenda's grandbaby Jordan met us at the dock. Chris also had friends traveling in a motorhome who was in the area so they joined us for dinner. We all walked through the tunnel (that is filled with beautiful murals and HUGE spiders) connecting the marina and the park to downtown. After several blocks we came to the food truck area. There were picnic tables all around and 5 food trucks offering pizza, Vietnamese food, burgers, tacos and BBQ. Of course there was a full bar. We joked about having another "last supper".

Mary's nephew and his family were in Traverse City at his in laws summer home and they lent us a car to go shopping. We were able to get provisions from a local grocery store, but they didn't have Snapple for Hal :( . We bought some things for a barbecue at Mary's nephew's in-law's house.

Hal and I were able to enjoy a delicious sushi dinner at Red Ginger. Sitting at the bar, we chatted with the bar tender about the area. It was a great experience. He said the town has become very busy year round. It is a very walkable city, however it is not easy to find parking so I am glad we didn't have to.

Petoskey Stone!
We enjoyed a wonderful day at Mary's nephew's family summer home. It is situated on the peninsula between the West Arm of Grand Traverse Bay and the East Arm of Grand Traverse bay. We met Paul and Jerry, the in-laws; Chris and Rachel, Mary's nephew and his wife; and their three children Juliette, Gabe and Kieran where incredible. After going down to the beach for some swimming and Petoskey rock hunting we enjoyed a wonderful lunch. Rachel and Jerry were kind enough to take us on a tour of the peninsula where we saw many vineyards and a lavender farm. We went to the Mission Point Lighthouse and were at the 45th parallel. The day was just relaxing and our hosts were so gracious.
