The first leg of the trip was quite "lumpy" with waves three to four feet, but after we made the left turn south it was much smoother. After leaving St. Ignace we went under the Mackinac Suspension Bridge. This divides Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. It is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world.

The water along the Michigan shores reminds us of the Caribbean, as it is a beautiful blue color near the shore and extremely clear. We thought we were going to hit rocks at the marina because of the clarity.

Petskey is a beautiful town, with flowers everywhere. Clean and well kept. There were parks everywhere with clean facilities. The streets were closed for a town sidewalk sale while we were there. A bug zapper paddle was among the purchases.

We ate at a charming restaurant right next to a park with a statue of Ernest Hemingway, as this used to be where he enjoyed staying.

There is a bike route that takes you from Harbor Springs to Charlevoix. Hal and I started on the path towards Charlevoix, but after I had a little spill on the gravel, we headed back. I did enjoy a long walk on the path towards Harbor Springs.
We walked to the end of the break wall and watched all the people jumping in. There were softball tournaments going on in the park and the tradition was for the winners to jump in the lake! As we walked we looked for the Petskey Stone but was unsuccessful.
