Travel Day 138 to Delaware City Marina, DE 5/22/22

We made a long push, over 9 hours and 65 NM to get to Delaware City Marina. We are trying to get home before Memorial Day but I am not sure we will make it. The cruise was beautiful, with gorgeous weather, although it got very hot once we stopped.

Getting in to the Delaware City Marina, Tim gives explicit directions as to the entrance. We went down the river slowly. Tim and his dockhands were there to catch our lines and then they have a whole system of turning the boats around. They did it flawlessly with six boats coming in at the time. We staggered the entrance to help. The dock is a long floating dock and there is a little gift shop. They also sell drinks and ice cream. After all the boats were docked we went to the shop for the briefing Tim gives about crossing the Delaware Bay. He graciously set out chairs for all of us an explained the DBOFS system and NOAA. He said that leaving at 7:30 on Monday would be good. Foster Schucker, the local Harbor Host, stopped by to say hello. He covers Chesapeake City, Havre De Grace and Delaware City. He gave me some restaurants to try in several cities.

We all went back to the boats to relax after the long day.

There were 8 looper boats all together. Mobile Home, La Vida, Cashelmara, Skafos, Gemini, Shingebiss, Jackpot and KDLou.

The night brought a lightening and thunder storms with a lot of rain so Izzy wasn't too happy.
