We left Deltaville after a week long stay. The weather still wasn't great with a cloudy sky and a choppy bay. Then we hit the fog on and off for a while. Fog horn blowing we traveled along with our buddy boats behind us. There was a 2-3 foot chop but it was on the bow most of the way. After the mouth of the Potomac it was smooth sailing. Izzy wasn't too happy with the beginning of the trip and she was happy when we got to shore.
There are many marinas in Solomons Island. We stayed at Safe Harbor Zahnisers. It was a really nice place with a great captains lounge, shuttle to some stores and an easy walk to the restaurants and shops. The marina is large and has a pool and restaurant on premises and courtesy bikes.
Foggy morning.
The first night we were all too tired to have docktails so Joey and Anne from Out of the Blue, who were anchored out, just came by dinghy to say hello. The mooring field and anchorage was just off our port side.
On Saturday, Tom VandenBerg, came by. we met him and Theresa and their dog Izzy traveling on the inland rivers. He is now a gold looper and a harbor host for the area. He brought us to Walmart for some provisioning. In the evening we organized a pot luck dinner hosted on Gemini. Doris and Jeff from Two by Two, JoAnn and Jack from Jackpot, Kevin and Lisa from Skafos and Chris from Cashelmara all enjoyed a delicious meal and great company.
Sunday, Tom took us, Kevin, Lisa and Jeff and Doris to the Pax Naval Air Museum and was our docent for tow hours. He was amazing! His wealth of knowledge and first hand experience was priceless. We all enjoyed the time spent with him. Another looper dinner was organized for the restaurant La Vela that night. Along with us, Kevin and Lisa, Jeff and Doris, Chris, JoAnn and Jack, Tom and Theresa from O'Tug the harbor hosts joined us and Pat and Steve from Calypso. Another fun evening spent together.
Dinner at La Vela.

We found out the hard way that most things are closed on Mondays. We strolled along the main street and walked to the Tiki Bar. We had heard their music on Friday and Saturday nights. Seems like a fun happening place. Most stores and restaurants were closed but we ended up having lunch at The Pier. We had a quiet afternoon doing some laundry and relaxing, staying out of the rain.
The flags are at half mast because of 1,000,000 COVID deaths.
Those are statutes of labs looking at the door. Aren't they cute!
Tuesday we left for Herrington Harbor on a beautiful day!
