Timing this leg of the journey was a little tricky as there are two bridges that have to be opened. The Wrightsville Beach Bridge only opens on the top of the hour for some reason and the Figure 8 Island Bridge opens on the top and bottom of the hour. We didn't see a lot of traffic for the Figure 8 Bridge so I am not sure why it can't open more frequently. We ended up waiting 40 minutes for the Wrightsville Beach Bridge and 15 minutes for the Figure 8 Bridge.
Getting in to the marina, Brett the harbormaster, gives very specific directions as there has been some shoaling. Brett and Yvette have an amazing marina. Beautiful concrete floating docks, gorgeously landscaped, clean, and surrounded by gorgeous homes. There is no town or Uber/Lift so just relax and stay in the marina.
Mary and Chris hosted a pot luck dinner on Cashlemara which turned out to be a wonderful time with great food and friends. Kevin and Lisa on Skafos were able to get in the marina so they joined us, and Jack and JoAnn on Jackpot. The food was yummy and I made a chocolate cake for dessert.

Walking Izzy in the neighborhood I met one of the residents. We chatted about the school system and how it is different from NY. The high school students go to school the latest and the middle school the earliest. Her third grade son was on the way to the bus at 6:30 am to start school at 7:10. They also have less school days than NY by adding time to each day and shortening free time (recess). Interesting to learn about he different communities.
